Light/Matter Interaction to Improve Semiconductor Interfaces
Research carried out at North Carolina State University (Raleigh) on the interaction of light with matter promises a better understanding of interfaces between different materials. The work, led by Professor David Aspnes, focuses on second-harmonic generation, or how light wavelengths are shortened by their interaction with materials. The work could improve the selection and processing of materials that bond to silicon, such as high-k dielectrics.
