The average productivity of a fab worker in Shanghai is $88,000 per year, according to the Shanghai Integrated Circuit Industry Association. The association said that the Chinese semiconductor industry has slowed over the past few years, and has entered a period of stable development. Lee: China Seeks Equipment Development

China is working to further develop its domestic abilities to supply semiconductor production equipment and materials, said William Lee, vice president of sales and marketing at Semiconductor Manufacturing International Corp. (SMIC, Shanghai). JA Solar Adds 20 New Solar Cell Production Lines in 2008

ACM Research Expanding in Shanghai

CSI May Start Silicon Wafer Production in June

Canadian Solar Inc. (CSI), a Nasdaq-listed photovoltaic (PV) product producer in China, has said that its crystal and silicon wafer plant may start production in June, state media reported. According to Shanghai Securities News, CSI's CEO Shawn Qu said that the plant, located in Henan Province's Luoyang City, will have an annual production capacity of 3000 tons upon completion, while its capacity will reach 1500-2000 tons by the end of this year.
