IMAPS (International Microelectronics and Packaging Society) is seeking nominations for four annual awards. Society members "who have given their time, energy and expertise to ensure the continuing excellence of our industry and science" can be nominated for the Daniel D. Hughes Jr. Memorial Award; the William D. Ashman Achievement Award; the John A. Wagnon Technical Achievement Award; and the Fellow of the Society Award. Nominations are also being sought for the Corporate Recognition Award, given to a member company that has made beneficial contributions to the society and to the microelectronics and packaging industries. Winners will be selected by awards committees; nominations are due by April 15. For further information, visit www.imaps.org.
SEMI is soliciting original papers worldwide for "A Partnership for PFC Emissions Reduction," to be held in conjunction with SEMICON Southwest in October. Papers should emphasize cost-effective, innovative technologies in emission reduction activities, including new manufacturing processes based on alternative gases; optimizing current manufacturing processes; recovering and recycling PFCs from exhaust streams; abatement of exhaust by PFC destruction; gas sampling systems and test methods for monitoring PFC exhaust; regional and global regulatory and implementation issues; and economic analysis of recovering and recycling/destroying PFCs. Papers should include new data that has not been presented six months prior to the event; cost-of-ownership data; end user or performance data; and data reflecting the challenges, issues or lessons learned. Prospective authors can submit an abstract of 200-250 words and a 100-word biography by May 7. The final document/paper due date is Sept. 10. To submit an abstract, e-mail Kate Dettenrieder at kdettenrieder@semi.org or fax your submission to 1-408-943-7925.
