•In September 1999, the 3-month moving average of new greenfield fab activity hit $1.4B, its highest level since June 1998.

•The cumulative level of greenfield fab activity in 1999 is expected to exceed $14B, up 40% from 1998.

•The year 2000 will be stronger than 1999.

•As many as ten 300 mm fabs will break ground or begin equipping in 2000.
