Flexible LEP Display Technology to be Licensed

-- Semiconductor International, 11/1/1998

UK Flag Cambridge Display Technology (CDT, Cambridge, UK) is to commence licensing its flexible light emitting polymer (LEP) technology. The first LEP product will be introduced later this year from Philips, probably a mobile phone display. CDT is also working with DuPont on a two year collaborative development that will result in plastic substrates coated with the LEP for use in CDT displays. LEP displays are lighter and use less power than other display systems, while their flexibility makes them suitable for new applications. 'These include electronic labeling on goods and flexible electronic newspapers,' said Danny Chapchall, chief executive of CDT.
