Cirent to Transfer to Lucent

Cirrus Logic Inc. (Fremont, Calif.) and Lucent Technologies (N.J.) have signed an agreement for Lucent to undertake full ownership and operational control of Cirent Semiconductor, their joint-venture wafer fab in Orlando, Fla.

Under the agreement, Cirrus Logic has reduced its capacity obligations, and Cirent will supply wafers to Cirrus Logic through Dec. 31, 2000. Future supply agreements will be negotiated separately. The agreement is subject to regulatory approval.

The Lucent agreement follows a similar agreement Cirrus Logic reached with IBM, in which IBM is to assume full control of the MiCRUS joint venture in East Fishkill, N.Y.
