Robert Lanzone has been promoted to general manager of flip-chip packaging at Kyocera America Inc. (San Diego). Michael Martinez has been appointed divisional director of marketing at EDS (Santa Clara, Calif.). Brad Mattson, CEO of semiconductor process equipment supplier Mattson Technology Inc. (Fremont, Calif.) has been awarded San Jose State University's 1999 Engineering Award of Distinction.

Arden T. Anderson has been appointed vice president of marketing and business development at Silicon Genesis Corp. (SiGen, Campbell, Calif.). He will be responsible for marketing and sales of the company's silicon-on-insulator process and plasma immersion ion implantation technology. Christopher Kraft has been appointed vice president, manufacturing sciences consulting, at EDS Semiconductor and Electronics Division (Santa Clara, Calif.). He is a 15-year industry veteran and former manager of Texas Instruments Inc.'s Worldwide Semiconductor Manufacturing Operational Methods department. Kraft's position was created to enhance the information technology services the company provides its worldwide high-technology customers.

Dr. Juri Matisoo has joined the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA, San Jose, Calif.) as vice president of technology programs. His work will focus on intensifying university research on long-term technology issues. Matisoo joins SIA from National Semiconductor, where he served as vice president of research. He brings over 25 years research management experience to the position.

Tony Abbis has joined Solid State Measurements (Pittsburgh) as director of U.S. sales. Abbis brings 20 years experience in growing and managing field sales worldwide. Phone: 412-787-0620

Steve Hansen was promoted to the newly created position of product marketing manager for the Calibration Products Line of MKS Instruments (Andover, Mass.).
