Motorola to Open Polish Fab

Motorola (Mesa, Ariz.) will build what is described as a "major semiconductor installation" near Cracow, Poland. The $108 million facility, which will include an R&D center, is scheduled to open next year. When it comes to full speed in two years, it is expected to employ as many as 500. Motorola is expanding its operations in that region of Europe, where it already operates a fab in the Czech Republic.
