IPEC America Named Fastest-Growing High-Tech Company
Deloitte & Touche LLP, a firm that provides professional services, announced the fastest-growing technology companies in the United States for 1997 as determined by its national Technology Fast 500 awards.
Phoenix, Ariz.-based Integrated Process Equipment Corp. (IPEC) won first place, with an astounding revenue growth increase of 71,136%. Roger McDaniel, president and CEO of IPEC, commented on his company's phenomenal growth: "There was an early recognition of the need for machines to perform wafer planarization to enable the production of faster, more complex semiconductor devices."
The list of winning companies shows that Northern California once again leads the country as a high technology hub, serving as a base for 16% of the Fast 500 companies. Massachusetts closely follows with 12%, followed by Southern California with 10% and Virginia with 9%. The list also shows that technology companies are spreading beyond their usual locations.
"We are seeing new technology clusters emerging in states all across the country, states not traditionally known for having high-technology industries. For instance, Missouri and Kansas are beginning to develop a technology core," said Mark Evans, national managing director for Deloitte & Touche's High Technology Group. PS
