Rave announced the Rhazer haze removal technology nearly a year ago at SEMICON West 2008, saying that its dry, laser-based system could remove haze from masks within the fab environment, rather than sending masks out for wet cleaning at a photomask supplier.
Rave said Chartered has been its production beta partner, evaluating the Rhazer technology since early 2009 at Chartered's Fab 7 in Singapore. The Chartered fab "is particularly well suited for the Rhazer technology," said Rave CEO Barry Hopkins. "We are looking forward to a highly favorable opportunity for both companies."
Chartered said in a statement that its Fab 7 Reticle Management Team has been evaluating the system over the past few months. "Our investigation concluded Rhazer works 'as advertised' and we expect this new haze mitigation technology to bring significant time and cost savings to our photomask clean and control program."
