Senior Editor Alexander E. Braun interviews Brian Markwalter, vice president of technology and standards for the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA), about his presentation at the FSA Suppliers Expo and Conference. He describes how the semiconductor industry and the consumer electronics industry share much of the same cycle, although the consumer electronics industry has the added burden of trying to predict, sometimes as much as four years in advance, what the general public will want to have in the next successful product. Markwalter believes that this is made easier by the semiconductor industry’s good technology choices.
