Obducat Ships Imprint System to Singapore’s DSI

Staff -- Semiconductor International, 4/8/2008

Obducat AB has shipped an Eitre imprint lithography system to Singapore’s Data Storage Institute.

Obducat AB (Malmo, Sweden) said it has received an order for a imprint lithography system from Singapore’s Data Storage Institute (DSI). Obducat said the institute ordered an Eitre imprint system optimized for hard disk drive (HDD) R&D work, valued at 4 million Swedish kroner (US$670K). DSI is affiliated with the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), and has research relationships with several of the HDD manufacturers that have operations in Singapore.

The company said the installation at DSI will allow Obducat to use DSI's facilities as a reference and demonstration site. Patrik Lundström, CEO of Obducat, said, "Our long-standing presence in the HDD area has given us an edge in terms of performance and scalability, which are key issues for the industrialization of pattern media. The fact that DSI choose Obducat's NIL technology further strengthens our position. We also see this order from DSI as a starting point of a longer and deeper relationship with DSI."
