Taiwan, home to four of the world's 300 mm fabs, with another seven producing 1st silicon, is a country whose semiconductor industry is on the up and up. It is currently the leader in wafer fab processing, and one of the major IC producers in the world. The Taiwan equipment market has been predicted to reach $6B this year. By 2006, industry analysts are forecasting Taiwan to reach $6.5B, while come 2010, it is predicted to total more than $60B. In addition, analysts are also saying that when it comes to the consumption of semiconductor wafer fab and packaging materials, the semiconductor industry in Taiwan will reach $5B by 2006, making it the second highest market region behind the United States for materials consumption. In a recent article, Semicon Research Corp. analyst, Philip Wang, stated, "This year, Taiwan's semiconductor industry will continue to outperform the worldwide standard with a 6.7% annual growth rate and the industry productions values reaching $35.9B."
SEMICON Taiwan, held Sept. 12-14, will take place in Taipei, Taiwan, in the Taipei World Trade Center. Exhibitors from 600+ companies will be displaying products for 20,000+ visitors in Halls 1 and 3 of the World Trade Center. Times for the show run standard: On Monday and Tuesday, the show will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., while on Wednesday, the show will be open from 10 a.m. until only 4 p.m.
Of the events taking place throughout the three days, there are interesting choices for visitors. Monday morning, a CEO forum will be hosted. That afternoon, a briefing on market trends will be conducted.
On Tuesday morning, Call for Papers presentations, hosted by SEMI, will be given. This will be a forum for presentation and discussion of technical work for both the manufacturers and the industry suppliers. Later that day, don't forget to check out the packaging and testing summit.
On the final day, a MEMS forum will take place in the morning, along with the Taiwan Information and Control Committee meeting. Then, that afternoon, the Taiwan EHS Working Group will be the last meeting of the show.
